About Me
Force-Free, Science-Based, Positive Reinforcement Training
Force-Free, Science-Based, Positive Reinforcement - that's a mouth full! What does that mean? Positive reinforcement learning is the scientifically proved standard for all learning in animals and humans. It is been proven to be the most effective way of teaching a new cue/skill and long-term retention. Old menthids of leash correction, choke-chains, etc. use punishment and aversive means to get a dog to obey, not learn. I want my clients to have a solid, positive, relationship with their dogs, not one based on fear.

I have loved animals all my life and feel a connection to dogs in particular. I have been training dogs professionally for 25 years and have been active in the rescue/shelter world for 30 years. I teach owners how to work with their dogs in a positive, fear-free environment and enhance the bond they have with their dog through consistent feedback and reinforcement. I work with dogs of all ages and breeds and have extensive knowledge with dogs that have behavioral concerns. On the flip side, I become the student when I attend workshops and seminars to learn new training methods. The field of animal behavior continues to evolve as well as our understanding of how animals learn.

I have have fostered hundreds of dogs and work with rescue and shelter organizations. I love all dogs, but my passion lies with Boxers and recently, their smaller counterparts, Boston Terriers. I adore their quirks, energy and expressions. They aren't for everyone, but they fit my lifestyle perfectly. I am currently owned by a goofy Boxer named Edward and a nutty Boston named Franklin. I have many more furry friends waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, including my beloved Isabella who passed away in February, 2024.
Don't hesitate to contact me with your questions and training needs. I can help and I'm here to help.
