Patches Animal Rescue, Inc. was formed by a small group of caring individuals in the Beaver Dam, Wisconsin area who wanted to focus on helping animals that needed special care and who aren't doing well in a shelter setting. We also had an interest in local history and we named our rescue after Anne Rogers Pfeffer's favorite dog, Patches.  Anne was an animal lover and an original founder of the Beaver Dam Humane Society, now Dodge County Humane Society.  Her and her family were well known in the Dodge County area and owned the Monarch Range Company,  the Rogers Hotel in Beaver Dam and a beautiful farm outside of Burnett, WI named Springbrook, which hosted people from all over the country.  ​

 Animals come to us directly from owners and from other shelters and rescues.  We are not high volume, but high on quality!  We focus on each individual pet.  ​Pets in our care are vetted (spay/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested for heartworm or feline leukemia) and behaviorally assessed to determine which kind of home is the best fit.  Usually, we find homes from these pets through word of mouth and friends, but we also list them on Pefinder.com.

Patches Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and donations are tax dedudctible.  ​Because we place less than 25 dogs a year, we are not required to be licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture.  ​​​
