Rocky Needs Help
Rocky and his housemates were seized by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department in December, 2025. Patches pulled Rocky in early January, 2026 from the Lincoln County Humane Society. He wasn't doing well in the shelter and he had some lumps and bumps. Since he probably had never seen a vet before, he needed all his vaccinations, heartworm/tick testing, micdrochipping and to be neutered.

Rocky was neutered in early January, 2026 and the two lumps were removed. One was a cyst by the other was a mast cell tumor. The pathology showed it was a load grade tumor (thank goodness), however the surgical site opened and he now has an open wound. Mast cell skin is nortoriously thin and friable. Plus, Rocky is positive for anaplasmosis, a tick disease and his ear canals are narrowed and thick, probably due to numerous untreated ear infections. However, he is the sweetest, playful, Boxer boy. It amazes us how resiliant animals can be.

UPDATE: January 15, 2026: We need donations to help cover his medical bills which have already totalted $1,500. His open wound is our prmiary concern right now. It might heal on itos own, or he might need a second surgeryor even need a skin graft. Patches Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organizations and donations are tax deductible.
